On the beach
Fantastic what one can see

from the taverna tavle in Patitiri.
Mostly I take good photos on Alonnisos,
- does this look tempting?

I mean the beach and the sea!

M/S Odyssey - Βάςω σε πειρασμό

 M/S Odyssey, - lede i fristelse

Se den her, klikk!

M/S Odyssey - Get tempted
Think to go sailing with this boat.
Anchors away and sail on the sparkling Aegean sea. One week would not be enough, - but what can we afford?

See it here, just click!

7 cabins - are you coming?

Fun was it for me when I searched for Odyssey Alonnisos - first suggestion was Skopelitissa 9th of September 2006!
I can still remember that trip!

Det er sommer, og hva skjer;
Branner igjen i Hellas!

Ser du det røde på bildet?
Det er skuret til brannmennene som sitter på utkikk på andre siden av bukten fra OlivenLunden, - ved ruinen av den en gang fine Agios Jårgås kirken - er det ikke det den heter? Rett foran Prodromou klosteret, som neste foto;

Do you see the red on my photo?
That is the shed for the firemen who keeps an eye of the island from the other side of the bay from the OliveGrove - by the ruins of the small church of Agios Yorgios - isent that the name?
Just in from of the Prodromou monastery as next photo:

"Forest fires
Ekathimerini.com

Firefighters battled several blazes across the country, on the islands of Corfu and Evia as well as in Halkidiki, northern Greece, and in Livadia, northwest of Attica, yesterday as strong winds fanned flames. It was unclear what caused the fires, all of which had been brought under partial control by late yesterday. Meanwhile, police in Attica detained a 47-year-old owner of a store selling hunting and fishing equipment in connection with a large fire in Ano Glyfada earlier this week.
The suspect is believed to have started the fire by accident while doing
target practice in the area."

Found a link and followed it;

"Forest fires ravaged southern Europe during the summer of 2007.
In Greece alone, 250,000 hectares and 3,000 homes were burned and at least 78 people died in some of the worst wildfires in living memory. Greek newspaper Kathimerini claimed the cost of the damage will exceed €3 bn, or 0.6% of GDP. Eagle Eye Protection and ForestWatch® cannot prevent wildfires from starting, but our system significantly improves the chance of stopping them before they can cause significant damage to land, lives and the environment."

I am reading this book,
I read nearly all yesterday.
It is so fascinating, so frightening.
This is a book about Greece and many things you might not know, please read it!
I am living in the OliveGrove
and have time for reading.

San Diego Union; "This is a Greek tragedy in its most poignant sense, a series of adversities that is so overwhelming and appalling that the reader will feel as if his heart is being torn out, page by page."

"Born Nicholas Gatzoyiannis in a remote Greek village in 1939, Gage fled to the United States ten years later with his sisters, after his mother was executed during the Greek civil war. In Eleni, Gage used his skills he learned as an investigative reporter for The New York Times to tell the story of how his mother arranged for her children to escape from their village, how she was tortured and executed in retribution by the guerrillas occupying it, and how he hunted down her killers thirty years later.
The book won prizes around the world, was translated into 16 languages
and was made into a motion picture."

Tiden flyr ...

Time runs ...
Now I will have my breakfast outside,
Pasxa & Aspri will have a small cut of cheese and I will continue with Eleni.

Dagens sitat;  Todays quote;

"Men may change their climate, but they cannot change their nature.
A man that goes out a fool cannot ride or sail himself into common sense."

Joseph Addison was born on May 1, 1672
English essayist, poet, dramatist and statesman, 1672-1719

"Menn kan forandre sitt klima, men de kan ikke forandre sin natur.
En mann som kommer ut som en dumming kan ikke ride
eller seile seg selv inn til normal fornuft."
