En lørdags tur ...
A Saturdays walk ...

Denne lille kalderimien
går opp fra veien til Glisteri,
(rett før Glisteri avkjørselen)
Kalogeros, Karia m.m. - man kan gå
videre og komme ned på andre siden,
etter avkjøringen til Glisteri,
- til den herlige, lille kirken
til Profeten Ilias;
This small kalderimi
leads up from the road to Glisteri,
(just before the turn for Glisteri)
Kalogeros, Karia and more
- one may continue and get down to
the road after the turn to Glisteri -
- to the lovely, small church
of the Prophet Ilias;

Notice all the anemones in the grass,
- all the light spots!
The brass stick I shot through a kind of
mesh at the backside of the church.

It was so nice and quiet by the small church, and not a soul to see!

The white heather is blooming;

"Erica Arborea, an important honey-producing plant. The dried branches are used for making brooms, and screens against wind and sun. The wood of the roots makes the best briar pipes."

Thanks for comment from 'NH in the UK about;
"Comes from the latin 'brucus' which means heather.
Roots of erica are very dense wood which lends itself
ideal for making smoking pipes, hence the term 'briar pipe'."

"Erica Arborea, en viktig honning produserende plante. De tørkede grenene brukes til å lave koster av, og til beskyttelse mot vind og sol.
Veden av røttene kan man lave flotte "briar" piper av.

An Island in Greece: On the Shores of Skopelos

"About the book
Greek fishermen call the Northern Sporades "the gates of the winds" and Michael Carroll in his 30 foot sailing boat Astarte moved about amongst them looking for a perfect anchorage only to find that this search became quite a different kind of quest. His chance meeting and subsequent friendship with the versatile Greek, Vangeli, on the island of Skopelos, led to a far more ambitious plan to buy a piece of land. It also led to the building of a house on the shores of the remote cove of Panormos - the perfect anchorage - once the site of an ancient city."

The house is there, by the bay of Blo,
and Michael Carroll still comes here every year.

En bok om en engelskmann som kommer seilende i en 30 fots seilbåt.
Treffer grekere, treffer Skopelos, kjøper tomt, bygger hus.
Huset er der fremdeles og Michael Carroll kommer hit hvert år.

Panormos, - Blo is out of this photo to the left.
