Så over til kalderimien;

The Sunday Walk
The weather is beautiful, nature tempting so I said to Pasxa; Sunday we will do a long walk.
First stop; Feeding Mikri in the OliveGrove and playing a bit with her.

Then we went up to "The Middle Road",
where the top photo is from.

Then on to the kalderimi;

Denne parten er minst ødelagt, men hva når jeg snudde meg;

This is the less destroyed part, but when I turned around;

Hvor er "broleggingen"?
Her er alt borte, her hvor det var gammel, ugjevn brolegging av stener fra naturen.

Where are the "cobbled stones"?
Here is all gone, here where there was old, uneven cobbles of stones from the nature.

Jeg kritiserer ikke, - jeg er bare for;
ALT DET BESTE FOR SKOPELOS!

How many kalivis are there?
Very many, specially since I keep my eyes open and looks around. Up here there must be 2 owners, the one to the right nicely restored, the left one a tragic ruin.,
Then I think, these must have belonged to one family once, then maybe 2 brothers inherited them, then maybe one sold ...

What we foreigners - "kzenos" - often gets compliments about, is that we are very good to keep our houses, and often they look more Greek than the locals houses.
Hope you understand me correctly!
I do not criticize, I just want to say;
ALL THE BEST FOr SKOPELOS!

Jomfruen av Pirgo
- den vakre lille kirken oppi "fjellom".

The holy virgin of Pirgo
- the beautiful small church up there.

Τhe high peak is; Mount Dirfis 1.743 m
"Mt Dirfis is the most high mountain at Evia island and it's height is 1743 (Thanks Vagelis for the tip) meters. The most days of the year is covered with snow and at it's granite peak you can see only black firs.
At the foot of this mountain, you can find beautiful small villages full of firs and plane trees, great small rivers of crystal cold water and excellent local food. Loutsa, Steni (=narrow in Greek), Metohi are some of them.
Dirfis is visible from Chalkis, my hometown and from the most of the wide area of Viotia and of course Evia. From the top of it, you can see almost all Greece from Agion Oros to Crete and Dodekanisa islands.
These villages and locations are only 1 1/2 hour from Athens and there great opportunities for small excursions."

From Mpampis Mantoukas at www.trekearth.com
- there you can see a great photo of the mountain.

etter lunch ...  Kastani

after lunch ...   Kastani
The Sunday walk ended up at Ektors in Mouretro, - lovely to sit down in the sun with a bucket of tea. We had walked for 2 hours and 45 minutes, only with photo stops.
Afterwards we had a lovely tuna-fish salad, but no tuna, they had forgotten to buy it, - the salad was with anchovies instead, very interesting taste. The green salad was from their garden, fantastic taste.

Before we were driven home we took the doggies and went to Kastani.
Also fantastic.
