Tårnjakt;
I en gammel bok "Scopelos Glossa" av Diamanti Sampson,
Edition of the newspaper "Northern Sporades",
- har jeg funnet mer om tårn.
Der står, fritt oversatt;
"Hele området ved Glossa og nord-øst delen var usynlig for byen Selinus (nå Loutraki). 
I det 4. århundrede f.Kr.ble flere utsiktstårn bygget i områdene rundt Glossa hvor bønder holdt utsikt og tente en ild hvis fare nærmet seg."
"Ved Glifoneri, litt over kirken til Agios Konstantinos, 
er det ruiner av et tårn som sies å være fra det 
3. århundrede f.Kr."
"Ruinene av tårn har også blitt funnet i andre områder av øya som Epanoa Panaitsa, "Saint John at Nisi"  (up from Glisteri) og Saint Onoufrios. Oppservasjonsposter eksisterte også på andre topper som Koprisa, Ag. Giannis i Skleri,
Karya og Pirgos. Alle hadde kontakt med hverandre og sendte meldinger til byene."

I alle fall dagens foto er "mitt" tårn nr. to. Ikke så godt bevart som det ved Ditropon, men alikevel! Litt av et system det må ha vært.

Har vært oppe på noe tårnlignende i Panormos i 1996, men det er gjerdet inn nå, så jeg tror ikke det lar seg gjøre å komme frem
dit mer!

Looking for towers;
In an old book "Scopelos Glossa" of Diamanti Sampson, Edition of the newspaper "Northern Sporades",
I have found more towers.
Here is some from the book;
"The whole area of Glossa and the north-east plain was invisible from town Selinus (now Loutraki) and the enemy could disembark and plunder without anybody seeing him. For that reason the inhabitants built, at the 4th century B.C., several tower-observation posts where the workers of the farms
were gathered and signed to the town with torches."
"At the place of Glyfoneri, over the saint Constantine's church, there is a rectangular tower, which can be chronologically put at the 
3rd century B.C."
"Ruins of towers there also are in other areas of the island as Epano Panaitsa (today's photo), "Saint John at Nisi" (up from Glisteri), Saint Onoufrios and others. Observation posts alos existed at the interior of the island on many tops, as Korpritsa, Ai Gianni in Skleri, Karya and Pirgos. All of them communicated by each-other and transmitted signs to the towers."

Anyway today's photo is my tower no. two. Not as well kept as the one in Ditropon. Quite a system they must have had.

I have been up to ruins of a tower up from Panormos in 1996, but I think it are fences all around so one can not get to the top!
